Akamac - Among other things, Marx's Das Kapital is available in English and English-German bilingual versions, in .pdf (Adobe Acrobat) file-format. This site also includes an extensive, alphabetically-sorted directory of online e-text resources of all sorts.

Alex Catalogue of Electronic Texts - Include items from American literature, English literature, and Western philosophy." Provides somewhat custom-formattable .PDF (Adobe Acrobat) files.

American Sunday Schools Book Digitization Project - "The Michigan State University Libraries Digital Sources Center and the Central Michigan University Libraries propose to digitize 121 American Sunday school books from the Russel B. Nye Popular culture Collection and the Clarke Historical Library."

Berkeley Digital Library SunSITE - A "gateway" page for e-text resources hosted by or associated with the project--there are over 2500 works in HTML and other formats with great strength in Jack London and American literature.

Bibliomania - Houses an extensive online collection of texts ranging from fiction and poetry to general non-fiction and reference works.

Blackmask Online Ebooks - A very large selection of electronic online texts by a wide variety of authors from a wide range of literature; many works can also be downloaded in .zip file-format.

Celebration of Women Writers - " . . . on-line editions of older, often rare, out-of-copyright works. We choose works from a range of areas to indicate the variety of interests of women writers." Includes links to texts both historic and contemporary, hosted both on-site and off; links to websites related to specific authors and their writing are also provided in many instances.

Christian Classics Ethereal Library - Classic Christian books in electronic format.

Classic Short Fiction Online - Selected classic short stories in html format. Authors include Hawthorne, Jackson, and Poe.

A Collection of Great Literature Online - Includes archives of now public-domain works by various well-known American and British authors.

Cornell Electronic Text Center - Not an online text archive but more an informational resource on the subject of electronic texts; includes information on and links to electronic texts, including various online archives both large and small, more general and more specific.

Corpus of Middle English Prose and Verse Bibliography - An extensive archive of Middle-English electronic texts (none of which are translated into modern English, however), including works by Chaucer and the ubiquitous Anonymous.
